Details about Diving the Crab
This site is one of our most beautiful diving sites, and we make sure that all out visitors have the chance to visit, weather permitting.
Our tourists season starts in July but the sea conditions
are not the best as the vis is about 6- 8 meters and water
temp is roughly 22-24 degrees celcius. This is still the holiday
time in Europe and we do get alot of repeat divers and new
ones diving.
This is up untill around October where the seas get calmer
and warmer so vis will go up to 12-20 meters and water temp
will be 24-28 degrees celcius.
Our diving is the best as October through till end of April
and only for about 2-3 weeks in December we have the change
in the winds called the Kas Kazi which makes the sea rough
over the chrismas new year period.
That is so that from around October to May we have our whale
shark season where sometimes we get sightings every week to
just a couple a month it all depends on the whale sharks and
their feeding behaviour as the water temperatures vary.
We have a total of 29 dive sites in the South Coast and 2
of the being artificial reef one a 470 ton fishing trawler
sunk Febuary 2002 and a Piper Apache plane 5 seater sunk in
2005. Both have proven very success full and have made amazing
homes for marine life that was not there before. This is monitored
by a enviroment group called CORDIO.
Our Marine life here is very varied and has amazing potential
for wide angle photography and macro photography:
